CALADAN GALLERY presents “Heaven and Hell”, a juried exhibition of 16 artists both national and international.  Many say that Heaven and Hell are experienced here in this life on Earth. Many traditions employ the concepts as mechanisms for domination or control. Some base Heaven and Hell on reality. Some as metaphor. Perception of the concepts of Heaven and Hell become an observation in duality. The poles of this duality are experienced both on subtle and grandiose planes, and are evident in the varying interpretations of the artists represented in this exhibition.

Oguz Yucel, a former denizen of the Twin Towers, captured the beauty and majestic quality of the microcosm the Towers created in the heart of downtown NYC. Caladan Gallery is pleased to present these photographs, in Memorial to a Time less deflective.

There are moments in time in which we do not put up a wall of separation between ourselves and that which is thriving around us.  Joanne Rose Foley captures natural beauty with particular attention paid to color, but it is within the simplicity of form and structure that the greatest impact is felt. To observe these works is to observe stillness, and to re-connect with our own reason.

These exhibitions will be presented on-line at www.caladangallery.com from September 10 – October 9, 2007.  For more information, please call (978) 741-7979 or email us at director@caladangallery.com .

Robert Girandola (Yardley, PA) was moved by a friend's experience during 9-11.  He writes:  "A dear friend of mine, who suffered unspeakable horror while trying to rescue lives in the north tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, inspired this painting. In the face of a rescue too great to achieve, this firefighter's mind protected him by transforming the human debris into cows.  I saw: cows to the slaughter, flowing across the canvas and off into the unseen."
