The Vermont Studio Center offers 4 - 12 week independent studio Residencies year-round (with a limited number of 2-week Residencies) for 52 artists and writers per month (24 painters, 12 sculptors, 2 printmakers, 2 photographers, and 12 writers). All VSC Residents receive private studio space appropriate to their medium (open 24 hours a day), simple private rooms and excellent food. In addition to the opportunity for focused, independent work VSC Residents can interact informally with a large and varied community of professional peers as well as through open studio evenings, slide showings, and readings which allow those Residents who wish to to share their work with one another.

VSC's unique residency format also provides a year-round roster of distinguished Visiting Artists and Writers , (3 painters, 2 sculptors and 2 writers per month) who offer evening slide talks/readings of their own work, and are available for studio visits/writing conferences with those Residents who wish them.
